The training of young students is cardinal to the protection of our environment.

The training of young students is cardinal to the protection of our environment.

The Higher Institute of Environmental Science (HIES) was born out of the desire to make a significant contribution in the protection of tropical ecosystems.Conscious of the degrading state of the Congo Basin forests, the founder of HIES after 34 years of service on the environment at national, regional and international levels, saw the need to create an Institution that will help train a new generation of African scientists and environmentalists charged not only with the protection, regeneration, and management of tropical ecosystems, but also with enhancing agroforestry, sustainability and conservation of the Congo Basin forests (which is second only to the Amazon in size) and the people whose welfare they sustain. The management of forest ecosystems is a complex process which requires multi-scientific disciplines including Agroforestry, Climate Change, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Environmental Health Science amongst others. These courses are being taught at HIES by an experienced teaching corps from both  foreign and local universities (Universities of California Los Angeles, Drexel, Ghent, Bonn, Yaoundé1 and Dschang) and experienced and outstanding scientists from international organisations. It should be noted that the training of young students is cardinal to the protection of our environment. This is a great opportunity not only for Cameroon (which is hosting the institution) but for the entire sub region. We are lucky to have such a prestigious institution partnering with some of the best universities in the world to bring to our doorsteps cutting-edge science. Worthy of note is the fact we have tailored the courses to meet the demands of the job market to make sure our graduates be operational upon graduation. I want to use this opportunity to thank all our partners and to invite everyone who aspires for quality training in the domain of the environment, to get enrolled at HIES now. We are sure they will acquire the necessary tools and as well as methods for local, regional and international job markets contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of people around the globe.
